Gratitude. Often when we are down, different people, maybe our friends or family, remind us to count our blessings. That seems like pretty shallow and cliched advice when our hearts have been broken, or when our hearts simply have no strength to carry on for the time being.
But if we truly, truly consider what we have to be thankful for, our hearts cannot help but want to burst with love for the gifts we have in out lives. We say we are grateful for family, friends, God, etc. But so often we say it without thinking of what they all really mean in our lives.
That's the problem. And sometimes we don't realize it until it's too late; until we've lost that special someone, or even something. This gives rise to yet another cliched saying: "you never know how much you miss something until it is gone".
But how true it is!
What we need is to get to the point where is doesn't take a loss to shock us into the grateful reality. It takes heart to be truly thankful for who or what we have in our lives.
We all have that someone in our lives that we are truly in love with and truly grateful for. They are the ones to whom you can look fully in the eyes and say with honesty: "I love you; I cannot imagine living another day of my life without you being there with me. I need you. I want you there, always by my side".
Think about that person, or those people in your life that are like the very air you breathe right now, because without them, taking another breath would almost be unbearable.
And don't forget Jesus. He deserves to be loved more than anyone else. When you are in church, look at the crucifix, look at the tabernacle, look at Him. Because He is looking at you and loving you right now, no matter who you are or what you have done. You are His child, be grateful for that. And be in love with Him for everything; because God is good: Always. Thank God for our lives.
Jesus; I love you, I cannot imagine living another day of my life without you being there with me. I need you, I want you there by my side. Always.
